Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with the Boston Children’s Ch

Monday, January 17 2:00pm and 6:45pm

On January 17, 2011,in partnership with WCVB-TV, Channel 5 and New England Conservatory, BCC will present and broadcast a live concert, Raising the Roof, in Dr. King’s honor, on his national birthday holiday. This annual concert will be syndicated to 85%+ of the US TV market during the month of January, mostly on ABC-affiliated stations. We are thrilled to have Grammy Award winner, Patti Austin and teen stars Christopher and Kyle Massey as our celebrity hosts! We are proud that NBA Superstar Shaquille O’Neal will share a personal reflection on Dr. King’s legacy during the national broadcast.

In addition, join us at 8:00PM EST in observing The King Minute: A minute of Silent Reflection on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This BCC initiated civic action is getting a big boost by the Boston Celtics decision to ask their fans to observe the King Minute prior to the game with the Orlando Magic on January 17th – The National King Holiday! You can still purchase tickets to the 2:00pm matinée and there are limited tickets available for the 6:45pm live TV broadcast.
