Dear Friends of Concord Prison Outreach: We have just gotten confirmation of approved items for the Holiday Gift Bags. The delay was caused by the Department of Correction’s desire to have one standard list for all 18 prisons. The finalized list is as follows: • 4-6 oz. tube of Toothpaste • Bar of deodorant soap • Bic Pen (plain stick pen that does not “click,” come apart in any way, or is made of clear plastic) • Envelopes • Pair of white socks (5″ or less) • Plastic comb (5″ or less) • Pocket calendar (no wire) • Shampoo, 4-7 oz. plastic bottles • Stick deodorant (no roll-ons) • Writing tablet/pad (no wire; up to 81/2″ x 11″) Also included in each bag will be a holiday greeting card (Happy Holidays, Seasons Greetings, NO Merry Christmas) signed (first name only) and which may contain a short note. Especially valued are the hand made cards from children (no larger than half an 81/2″ x 11″ sheet of paper so they don’t get mangled in the bags). Reminders: • We welcome donations of the above items in any quantity. They do not have to be in sets. We hope to have enough gift sets for all 1700 inmates this year. • Although we are required to deliver the gifts in state-provided plastic bags, some groups find it helps to provide plastic or paper shopping bags (with list of items attached) for their members to fill and return to a central location for delivery to Trinity Episcopal Church in Concord. • The West Concord 5 & 10 carries many of these items. • Drop off dates are November 20 – December 3rd at Trinity Episcopal Church, Concord. • Cash donations are also welcome. Your tax-deductible check may be made out to Concord Prison Outreach, Inc., earmarked “Holiday Gifts” and mailed to: Concord Prison Outreach Box 383, Concord, MA 01742 We hope that you will generously support this project and bring a ray of light and hope into lives that are sorely lacking in both. Please contact one of us if you have any questions or concerns. With best wishes, Beverly Duncan (978) 562-5075, aadunc@aol.com Carol Miller (978) 369-3755, ncmiller@gowebway.com
